Why should you stay away from dargahs?

According to the Srimad Bhagavat Gita, prayers are of the types:
1. Satvik
2. Rajsik, and
3. Tamasic

Satvik is when you pray to God and God only, accepting Him in your actions.

Rajasik is when you pray to yakshas and demi gods.

Tamasik is when you pray to ancestors and ghosts.

The same Bhagvad Gita says that whomsoever you pray, God is the recipient of the prayers and the Providence thereof.

Some people are so bound by their desires that they go visit graves of people. For example Ajmer Sharif, Nizamuddin Dargah, etc are graves. Basically, the people going there to get their wishes fulfilled are praying to ghosts/spirits.

There were people in Chunar who went to a hilltop grave of some unknown person saying he fulfills the wishes of people who go there and light diyaa at his mazaar (grave). Mom used to go there and as usual, I had to accompany her. At that time, I hadn't read the Gita so I didn't know it was wrong according to the Hindu philosophy. I later asked God for forgiveness as it was an act done due to ignorance.

Anyway, what I am trying to say is that if your devotion is good and if you believe God is your creator, you needn't and shouldn't visit these graves, mazaar, dargahs, etc. You don't change your God if you have faith in Him.

Would you leave your parents and go to someone else if your parents aren't buying you the toys you want? It's the same with God. He is your guardian and He knows what's best for you. Just seek answers from Him instead of going and praying to those ghosts. He is bound to reply.

For a few moments you may not understand why your wish isn't being granted. But later, you will understand why God let things happen that way.

I have been upset many times in my entire life. Later, after all these years, when I reflect on those events, I understand it was for my own good. I can't stop thanking God for all He's done and not done for me.
